Bosch introduces their new DareDevil spade bit line

Mount Prospect, Ill., October 01, 2008 – The DareDevil™ was designed to answer the needs of electricians, plumbers and other professional users in terms of speed, ease of use and hole quality. The new DareDevil spade bit takes performance to another level.  Based on the independent testing, Bosch has designed the fastest, easiest to use bit ever, and we dare you to try it.

The key to this performance is the patented design of the bit itself.  Many of the other wood drilling products come with a threaded tip for fast smooth feeding. A first for spades, Bosch has incorporated a full cone threaded tip, which has increased not only the speed of the bit, but also the ease of drilling.

Another patented feature of the DareDevil is the contoured paddle.  This wave-like shape speeds up chip removal, adding to the speed of the bit.  The combination of these two features creates astonishing results.  In independent testing, the DareDevil was 2.4x faster and required 53% less force than the Irwin Blue Groove.

Bosch prepares you for flashlight season

The long days of summer are over, and all that is left are darker mornings at the jobsite. This is the time of year for me, when flashlights get a real workout. It is no fun getting to the jobsite at 6am and then having to navigate the jobsite hazards using only the moonlight.

Video comparison: Milwaukee Big Hawg vs Bosch Carbide Hole Saws

Posted by Quiglag in videosawMilwaukeeboschaccessories

Quiglag

The guys over at CopTool put together a really good video comparing the two carbide hole saws, but they make it very clear that these two hole saws are not in the same class. While the Milwaukee Big Hawg is meant mostly for wood, the Bosch Carbide Saws are meant to cut through a range of materials.

While watching the video keep in mind the 2-1/8" Bosch Carbide Hole Saw costs a little more then double the price of the Milwaukee Big Hawg

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this video

Fein MultiMaster patent expire is fine with us

Fein multimasterI am sure most of you have seen the infomercials for the Fein MultiMaster over the past few years. Their tool does everything: it slices, it dices, cuts tile, drywall, etc. But it also comes with a pretty big price tag. You are looking to spend around $200 for the tool, and attachments are around $60. Good thing for all of us, patents expire.

Toologics has some info on a Bosch rival PMF 180 E Multi that is available in Europe for only $130 US equivalent.  Bosch has no word on when or if it will be available in the US. :(

Toolsnob also has news of a Dremel version . The Dremel Multi-Max will retail for around $100, with accessories costing between $4- $40.  It will be available in the US :) I am sure you can expect an overwhelming amount of attachments, and accessories to go with it.
